Minecraft Cylinder Generator
A hollow Minecraft cylinder 15 blocks wide and 12 tall takes 480 blocks as an open tube and 754 with closed ends; a solid one takes 2,124. This Minecraft cylinder generator stacks a circle from the circle engine layer by layer, for any diameter from 3 to 128 and any height up to 256, with a wall thickness, closed ends and a Litematica file. Download a .litematic schematic and import it into Minecraft Java with Litematica — build over the hologram in survival or paste it in creative.
A filled cylinder has no wall and no ends to set.

How to use
- Set the size and options above the plan.
- Step through the levels, or open the 3D view.
- Download the .litematic, or print the plan.
This Minecraft cylinder generator turns a diameter and a height into a layer-by-layer plan for a tube, a silo, a pillar or a solid drum. Choose hollow or filled, set the wall thickness, close the ends if you need a floor and a roof, and step through the layers.

How the Minecraft cylinder generator works
A cylinder is the same circle repeated on every layer. The generator draws the circle with the same engine as the circle generator, so the ring on each layer is a proper block circle with no gaps at the corners, then stacks it to the height you set. Enter a diameter and a height, and the plan shows layer 1, the blocks in each row, and the totals for the whole cylinder.
Because every middle layer is identical, you only need to work out one ring: build it once, then copy it up. The stats give the blocks per ring and the inside width, which is what a room or a shaft has to work with. The Y=0 label in the layer scale is the bottom layer.
Hollow, filled and wall thickness
A hollow cylinder is a wall around an empty middle, which is the cheapest way to build a tube, a pillar or a tower. The wall can be 1 to 8 blocks thick: a thicker wall is peeled from the outside in, so it is the same thickness all the way round. A filled cylinder is a solid drum, which suits a fountain base, a well or a pillar you plan to hollow out later.
Wall thickness does not apply to a filled cylinder, so those controls grey out when you pick Filled.
Closed ends, roof and floor
An open tube has no floor and no roof: it is a chimney, a shaft, a pipe or the outer shell of a tower. Switch on Closed ends and the bottom and top layers become solid discs as thick as the wall, which turns the tube into a silo, a tank or a capsule. A cylinder of only one or two layers with thick ends turns solid all the way through.

How to make a cylinder in Minecraft, step by step
- Pick the size. Enter the diameter and the height in the Minecraft cylinder generator. Odd diameters have a single middle block, even ones a 2 × 2 middle.
- Choose hollow or filled and set the wall thickness.
- Mark the centre on the ground and copy the ring from the plan, one row at a time.
- Build layer 1, then go up. The plan is the same for every layer except the ends, if they are closed.
- Add the ends. With Closed ends on, layer 1 and the top layer are full discs.
- Export a PNG of any layer or the whole cylinder as a .litematic file.
Minecraft cylinder ideas
- Pillars and columns, 3 to 7 blocks wide and 10 to 40 tall, in stone bricks, quartz or a stripped log block.
- Silos and water towers, 11 to 21 wide, with closed ends and a cone roof from the cone generator.
- Tubes and shafts for elevators, chimneys and a Minecraft tube of glass with an open top and bottom.
- Round rooms and drums, hollow with a two-block wall for a sturdy castle tower.
- Fountains and wells, a filled cylinder that is a few layers high, hollowed out by hand.
Tips
For a tall build, work in stacks: the total shows how many stacks of 64 blocks you need, and a 31-wide tube 64 tall takes 84 of them. Add a cone, a dome or a roof on top; the dome generator and the roof generator use the same diameters. For a curved ring with a hole in the middle, use the torus generator.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a cylinder in Minecraft?
Enter a diameter and a height in the cylinder generator, choose hollow or filled and build layer 1 from the plan. Every layer is the same circle, so copy it upward. Turn on Closed ends for a floor and a roof.
How many blocks does a Minecraft cylinder need?
A hollow cylinder 15 blocks wide and 12 tall takes 480 blocks as an open tube and 754 with closed ends. A solid one takes 2,124. The ring alone is 40 blocks, and a two-block wall makes it 76. The Stats panel gives the exact total and the number of stacks.
How do I make a Minecraft tube?
Use a hollow cylinder with Closed ends off. The result is an open tube, a wall around an empty shaft, with no floor and no roof. Set the wall thickness to 1 for glass or to 2 or more for a sturdy pipe.
What is the difference between a hollow and a filled cylinder?
A hollow cylinder is only the wall, so it takes far fewer blocks. A filled cylinder is solid all the way through. A solid 15 × 12 cylinder takes 2,124 blocks against 480 for the open tube.
How tall can a cylinder be?
The generator goes up to 256 layers and 128 blocks across. The Overworld is 384 blocks tall in current Java and Bedrock versions, so a 256-layer cylinder fits with room to spare.
Can I use the cylinder in Litematica?
Yes. Choose a block and press .litematic in the tools. The file holds every layer. Put it in .minecraft/schematics, press M in the game and load it from the Litematica menu.
Can I import this build straight into Minecraft?
Yes, on Java Edition with the Litematica mod. Install Fabric and MaLiLib, put the .litematic file in .minecraft/schematics, then press M → Load Schematics in Minecraft. In survival, the build appears as a translucent hologram and you place blocks over it; Easy Place can place one block at a time from the projection. In creative, Litematica can paste the whole build into your world; on a server you need administrator (op) permission. Bedrock Edition cannot use .litematic files, so follow the grid and layer plans instead.
